Idaho tops the Perfect Weather Index for the first time this year on Tuesday. As we move toward summer, the best weather is shifting north as heat and humidity lowers the PWI across the southern tier states. Even in Idaho tomorrow, much of the perfect weather will be at higher elevations in places like Stanley, ID. Also 10s across parts of Montana including Billings and Bozeman. Worst weather tomorrow in Minnesota, unless you count Alaska which looks unusually poor.
A large area of perfect weather is expected in northeast Oklahoma, southwest Missouri and northern Arkansas Sunday. This will include both Joplin and Springfield, Missouri. Also a large area of perfect 10s in remote sections of eastern Oregon. A sliver of 10s just inland along the northern California coast from Crescent City to Eureka. Overall, Oklahoma and Oregon tie for the best both with a very high 9/10.
Best: 1. Oregon 2. Oklahoma 3. Washington 4. Kansas 5. Arkansas
Worst: 1. Minnesota 2. Wisconsin 3. Iowa 4. Wyoming 5. Louisiana
Nevada will have the best weather overall Saturday but mainly in the higher elevations such as around Tonopah. Outside Nevada, perfect 10s in Albuquerque, NM and Klamath Falls, OR. Also a small area of perfects 10s around Springfield, MA. On the other end, Wisconsin will see a cool wet day and is at the bottom of the list.
Best: 1. Nevada 2. Connecticut 3. Massachusetts 4. Rhode Island 5. New Mexico
Worst: 1. Wisconsin 2. Minnesota 3. Nebraska 4. South Dakota 5. Iowa
The West continues to warm up and dry out Friday. Some places ,such as Redding, CA, will be too warm for perfect 10s, but a lot of 10s will be found in parts of northern Nevada, Oregon and eastern Washington. Reno, NV…Boise, ID…and Bend, OR all will see perfect weather tomorrow. The Rockies and the Plains will continue to be under a late season cold snap.
Best: 1. Oregon 2. California 3. Washington 4. Nevada 5. Arizona
Worst: 1. Iowa 2. Nebraska 3. South Dakota 4. Colorado 5. Wyoming
A beautiful day on Thursday in parts of California including my own area. (Very happy). Some of this extends into the Rogue Valley of Oregon as well and California overall is the winner. With the huge snowstorm in the Rockies, very low PWI numbers in Wyoming including Cheyenne. Too hot in the east so PWI are a bit tempered by that though sunshine will abound.
Best: 1. California 2. Oregon 3. Rhode Island 4. Arizona 5. Missouri
Worst: 1. Wyoming 2. Wyoming 3. Colorado 4. Nebraska 5. Wisconsin
Not a lot of perfect weather Wednesday except for parts of central California. This includes Oroville, site of the serious dam issues earlier this spring at Oroville Dam. A cold snowy storm in the Rockies leaves that region squarely at the bottom. Much of the east will actually be too warm to get high PWI ratings as a big high pressure make things warm and sticky.
Best: 1. Rhode Island 2. Maine 3. New Hampshire 4. Massachusetts 5. Connecticut
Worst: 1. Idaho 2. Utah 3. Montana 4. South Dakota 5. North Dakota
The weather in New England of late has been pretty miserable so they are due for some nice weather and today will see the start of that. Most states from North Carolina to New Hampshire will see a PWI score of least 8 with Rhode Island topping 9. This trend will continue the next few days although PWI scores may not reflect it as temperatures near 90 in some areas. Too much of a good thing.
Best: 1. Rhode Island 2. Massachusetts 3. Maryland 4. Connecticut 5. Pennsylvania
Worst: 1. Oregon 2. Idaho 3. Washington 4. Nevada 5. Wyoming
