The monthly total for May are in! The overall best state was California and this is the state with the best location in the country. And that location is: Camanche Reservoir which is about 40 miles SE of Sacramento. The worst state was Vermont, just beating out Maine. And the worst location was Mt. Washington, NH, a notoriously bad weather site.
A very large area of perfect weather can be found today from North Dakota all the way to Illinois. This includes the Fargo, ND…Sioux Falls, SD…Ames, IA…and Springfield, Il. Overall, Iowa comes out with a record 9.5, the highest for a state this year. Clouds and cool temperatures keeps Maine on the bottom today, but not a lot of really bad weather on the map today.

A rather large area of perfect weather across eastern Montana to start the work week. This extends south into Wyoming and Nebraska, and Nebraska will actually see the highest mean with a great 9.1. Worst weather in Minnesota with cool, breezy weather. Notably, Alaska improves to it’s first 6.0 of the year as high pressure warms up state, especially the interior.

Salt Lake City, Utah is the place to be on Memorial Day as perfect 10 weather can be expected. This good weather extends into Idaho and Nevada. Overall, Utah will have the highest mean at 8.8, while New Hampshire will definitely be the worst at 2.7. In fact, all of New England will see poor weather for the holiday.

A four-way tie for first on Sunday with Idaho, Nevada, Utah, and Vermont all having a mean score of 8.8. Technically, Idaho is the winner because it has the most number of perfect 10s including Idaho Falls and Pocatello. Heat, humidity, and thunderstorms make for the worst weather in the South. Although, Alaska has the worst mean of 4.9 but parts of the state will see nice weather including the Panhandle and the interior.

Oregon will lead the way on the first day of the Memorial Day holiday weekend. Perfect 10s through much of the eastern part of the state extending into Idaho, California and Nevada. Alaska will see the worst overall weather but the Southeast Panhandle will not be as bad as the rest of the state. In the lower 48, Wyoming will be on the bottom.

For the first time this year, Washington State tops the Perfect Weather Index Friday. A great start for an early holiday weekend in the Pacific Northwest with widespread 9s and 10s. Seattle and Bellingham, Washington both with 10s tomorrow as well as Bend and Klamath Falls, Oregon. Overall, Washington beats out Oregon mainly due to some lingering cool air along the Idaho border of Oregon. Maine clearly on the bottom with rain and cool temperatures.
