Not a real great start to the week as perfect weather will be scarce. About the only appreciable area of perfect 10s will be in the central valley of California. An unseasonably cold storm in Pacific Northwest will bring widespread 1s from Southeast Oregon into Central Nevada. Hot and humid weather east of the Mississippi will keep a damper on PWI scores.

A small ribbon of perfect weather Thursday on the south end of Lake Michigan and the south end of Lake Ontario. The cool water temperatures of the lakes moderates the air temperatures but the best weather occurs about 5-10 miles inland. Close to the lake, too cool, further away from the lake, too warm. This “Goldilocks” zone includes Gary, IN and Rochester, NY. Overall, Indiana will be best while a storm in the Pacific Northwest lands Oregon on the bottom.

Beautiful weather across the Pacific Northwest on Monday with Oregon leading the way. Most of the 10s east of the Cascades of Oregon and Washington, but lots of 8s and 9s on the west side including Portland. Rain and cool temperatures in New England with Vermont the worst.

Oregon will lead the way on the first day of the Memorial Day holiday weekend. Perfect 10s through much of the eastern part of the state extending into Idaho, California and Nevada. Alaska will see the worst overall weather but the Southeast Panhandle will not be as bad as the rest of the state. In the lower 48, Wyoming will be on the bottom.

For the first time this year, Washington State tops the Perfect Weather Index Friday. A great start for an early holiday weekend in the Pacific Northwest with widespread 9s and 10s. Seattle and Bellingham, Washington both with 10s tomorrow as well as Bend and Klamath Falls, Oregon. Overall, Washington beats out Oregon mainly due to some lingering cool air along the Idaho border of Oregon. Maine clearly on the bottom with rain and cool temperatures.

A large area of perfect weather is expected in northeast Oklahoma, southwest Missouri and northern Arkansas Sunday. This will include both Joplin and Springfield, Missouri. Also a large area of perfect 10s in remote sections of eastern Oregon. A sliver of 10s just inland along the northern California coast from Crescent City to Eureka. Overall, Oklahoma and Oregon tie for the best both with a very high 9/10.

The West continues to warm up and dry out Friday. Some places ,such as Redding, CA, will be too warm for perfect 10s, but a lot of 10s will be found in parts of northern Nevada, Oregon and eastern Washington. Reno, NV…Boise, ID…and Bend, OR all will see perfect weather tomorrow. The Rockies and the Plains will continue to be under a late season cold snap.
